what would you choose?? need opinions
Hey
I agree with what MR2NR is saying about getting a high quality deck. If you want SQ extra components will generally degrade the signal, try to find a deck that has everything YOU want for options. I haven't heard the Clarion but I have heard the Pioneer piece you mentioned. I thought is was pretty good, decent job of reproducing Mozart's symphony 41 "Jupiter" (I still dislike fancy displays though).
The AC 4.1 is a nice piece, the newer models, but if you are up for "tweeking" it it can be improved sonically with (more money) better op-amps (a few caps too).
Good luck J

Sounded like an opinion to me..............that was asked for............. </font>[/QUOTE]Actually it wasn't asked for. The gentleman asked about the Clarion pieces and advice on them. I would not have said anything if this Eclipse dealer hadn't tried to say that the Eclipse 8053 is better than the P9 combo in another thread, a shameless attempt to promote Eclipse, which I am not saying is a bad brand by any means.
I apologize for my remarks to everyone else

As soon as I added the 4.1, the gains had to be dropped, and the adjustable boost anywhere between 40-80hz is a handy feature. I am sure that the rest of the EQ section is just as good, I just wanted to be able to keep the sub level control off of my deck.
PM'd ya, also.

I'm also still debating on whether or not to use my AC 4.1i.. I like being able to make some adjustments from the drivers seat, and the para-bass feature is great too. (plus I love the amber backlighting, matches my dash perfectly)..
My only concern is that I already have a pair of mono 31band EQs, and I'm hoping the pre-amp signal will not be degraded. I may connect it just to see if I can a difference. My amps can accept high volt inputs as well, so might be worthwhile..

1.7 volts.. wow, thats pretty bad.. I guess it wasn't just in my imagination after all..
Previous to the alpine, I had an older sony deck, which was rated at only 2v, and they sounded like they had the same output level.
I've heard the nakamichi cd400 does not have true 4v rms outputs, but they are much hotter than the alpine, thats for sure..

So, Kool, why is it that an apology may not be owed to me? This is a totally different subject than the other thread and it seems as though you are blending the two of them together to suit your needs and attack a highly reputable dealer. I will caution you against this right now. I will not take attacks on my reputation and integrity lightly at all. I have been quite nice to you in the other topic you are referring to and you have shown a great deal of potential in this industry, don't let a difference of opinion cloud your responses please.
As I am a retailer, yes, I can and will answer questions of this type as I generally have a working knowledge of much more types of equipment based on many more years of experience for the most part. I do not profess to know everything as there is always something new to learn everyday. I made a suggestion based on experience, other people, dealers or not may do the same and recommend another brand, and it is not construed as advertising.
An opinion was asked for and answered, where the poster chooses to shop is up to him, do I expect to sell it to him, no I do not. Do I expect to be able to answer questions for him, yes I do. If you know of a piece of equipment that does a great job, you would recommend it, this is exactly what I have done for this post.

Second, if you expect me to apologize to you, then I would expect you to apologize to me for attempting to take away my credibility by pointing out the fact that I do not work at a car audio store in the other post. I did not appreciate that low blow.
Needless to say, I apologize to all.

His next part of the same sentence asked about a particular Clarion unit, as I am not a Clarion dealer I cannot offer him solid advice for what he asked about, nor will I engage is making assumptions about a brand that I do not sell.

"You seem to be fairly well versed in this particular case, are you employed in a store by chance?"
This was meant as a compliment to your knowledge on this particular discussion and as a matter of fact I also thanked you for keeping it clean. This was not meant to offend you at all and if it was taken that way then you have my apologies. This was infact meant as a question that I was hoping to hear one of two things, either "Yes I am" or "No I am not" to which I would have and will reply now, perhaps you should be looking into it. You seem to have a very good grasp of car audio and as you pointed out much more than the average salesperson, you are the kind of person that most good car audio shops are looking to train.
