What are you hoping for?

I ask this every new year. With the coming of CES 2010. What would you like to see from the 12 volt manufactuers? What developments should they have come up with since last year?

Myself I would like to see smaller drivers with more power handling and better effeciency, aswell as larger drivers with better prices. I was in aww with the amps that came out last year and hopefully will be blown away with new ones this year. PS phoenix gold will be revealing there new SPL amp with 3 + and 3 - inputs, called "The One".

A cheap carputer with integrated touch screen, tuner, and a sound card with something like 10 channels out (I love PCXO). Oh and no built in amps to heat up. Other than that I'd like to see the ridiculous prices for automotive speakers come down to earth.

Yeah i agree with the speaker prices too. Id also like to see decks with more powerful preouts too. A 10-12channel amp would be pretty wicked too. But a carputer with sound card outs would be sweet too.

cheaper smaller amps.. like PDX but instead of paying 1000$ for the 1000 i would like to see 500$ for it.. or something similar by another brand.

less expensive sound dampner. for the same quality

high end speakers to drop in price... ya right like thats ever gonna happen lol

I want the MS-8 from JBL to come out by the spring, anything else would be gravy.

^Danyman :Cheep small amps = soundstream stealth.

But really there are many cheep in price small amps for sub use... soooo many, some smaller then the PDX line (when talking about mono amps)

PG is also coming out with a small foot print amp, but only 50 x 4.

As for the OP... "Myself I would like to see smaller drivers with more power handling and better effeciency, "

That's pretty much impossible, as they say it's having your cake and eating it to. In driver designs you can have equal parts small, loud and bandwith.... You can't increase all 3... you increase one you have to lower the others. Always compromises.
TA Speaker Topics: Loudspeaker Design Tradeoffs

I will also say what others have pretty much been saying, cheaper (in price) products.

I like to grumble about price, I'm a total cheap ***, but when I mentioned the ridiculous prices of car audio speakers I meant when you compare them to home drivers of the same caliber.

Overall I would like to see the industry take itself seriously and make products that will sustain the future of car audio. The industry has seen the recession bully so it rolled up into a ball and is screaming "not in the face ,not in the face" without putting up a fight. No serious R&D is being done, new products will be few and far between in the next year or two.
Car audio needs to come to grips with the ever more complicated market, and my wish is someone other than an accountant is driving the bus.
