What's the best box for a JLW6 v.2 12"?
#1
I am going to be running it off of a JBL 1200.1 and am looking for a good mix of SPL and SQ. However, I have never run a single sub setup before so I am a little apprehensive of the output. So, I guess it's safe to say that I would like this little 12" to pound but still sound good while doing it.
I was just going to use JL's recommended box dimensions for the sealed/ported, but has anyone played around with these box sizes?
Right now I am leaning towards the sealed because I am being informed that I would need a subsonic filter to protect my sub if I choose to go ported. Is this really needed? Of course my amp doesn't have one but I really don't think that I need one.
All in all, for those who have heard/purchased this sub, what box would you choose to load this driver into? Ported or sealed? And . . . what would be the parameters, if possible, for the box?
Hey, thanks a lot. I know this might sound like a load of horse dung but I seriously need help on this decision. Thanks.

Right now, mine is in about 1.5 cubes, sealed(same box I had my 12w3 in). It sounds great off my JL 500/1.
