you could hook up an amp that does 3k at 2 ohms, it doesn't mean you'll get 3k out of it. Thats what the gain is for. Just stay conservative with your gains and you'll be fine, and if you're ever unsure just back it down.

Soundigital, but thats just me. DC Audio has some fancy amps coming out, and their 3.5k will do nice power at 2 ohms. Browse through the classifieds and you might find something to your liking, maybe even local, though I'm not sure how local Slave Lake is to anything.

Hahaha our local audio shop just quoted me 10 grand for a kicker 2500. And they have a solo x 12 that is "just out of the box, like new" that I know has had 6 cones in it.

Just beware of some amps, I've heard of certain ones going into protection as soon as they see a load lower than what they're rated for.
Freshie, you don't need my help for that...

For the record I will always suggest, especially to the new folks, that they run things within rated limits. I know there are ways and reasons to bend those rules for a higher purpose, but it is too easy to blow stuff up if you don't know how to bend them correctly.....

There is probably nothing more discouraging to a newb than letting out the magic smoke from their first big amp.....kinda hard to grow the sport if that happens too often, ya know?....

Another $0.02 worth....I must be up to a loonie by now.....

Haha thanks! I know some, but I will admit I am new. I would rather buy something that I know is going to work than something that "will work if you do it right" I hate sitting there scratching my head saying wtf did I just do...
