I hooked up a us acoustics usx-4065 amp the other day to run a pair of RE8s. It worked great the night I hooked it up, but the next day I started the car up and the amp was no longer working. Now every time I turn it on, the protection light comes on for a few seconds and then shuts off. The green power light doesn't come on and there is no output to the subs at all. I unhooked the subs but it made no difference. I checked all the connections and they seem to be fine. Fuse is fine as well. Any idea what is goin on and how I could fix it?

How do you have your amp hooked up to the RE8s? RE8's are single 2 ohm voice coils. If you bridged channels 1&2 together for one sub and 3&4 for the other sub it would have been too low of an impedance for the amp

Same if you just ran the subs in parallel to channels 1&2 bridged (that would have been a 1 ohm load )

If nothing smells from the amp. Then take it and try it in your friends car.

Check for the burnt smell from the amp. Sounds like it's done though.....

No burnt smell, so I guess thats good. Sounds like I may have damaged it though. The light only comes on when the ground is connected, even if its just the ground and remote leads connected without the power or rcas or speakers. I can connect everything else, but as soon as the ground lead touches, the light comes on for a few seconds then goes off. Does this sound like a problem that could be fixed or is my amp done?

Try finding an electronics shop that does free estimates. Then you can see if it's price conscious to keep it or not.
