There are a lot of easier ways to **** off 50% of show attendees than just placing people in to categories on your own.

It's funny how you think you can properly define who an amature is on your own even though the biggest org in the world (dbDRA) gave up on it a few years ago.

I guess you're just smater than everyone else

the best to draw a line at the show is db wise. for example, have 145 db's as the cut off point for amature.

My opinion is that if you currently work for a car audio related company you should be considered a pro in most cases. But as far as paying retail goes, I dont think anybody pays retail anymore. Half of the products in my car were picked up for less the dealer cost (big sales and old models mainly).

</font>[/QUOTE]Someone has to put a defination to amature because obviousley non of you can. and yes, I am smater than everyone else.

defro13 I am, by ALMOST, all of the above said (aside from the 145db score) an amateur.

For all others with some decent input, good job, keep it coming.

to do it by spl level is the best way

face it, there is no real way to determine or separate amatures from not amatures.

say someone has ok gear and a car that can be loud. they never competed before but then they go to a show and hit like a 134 with their prefab box........ok they are an amature then and there. but then they go home and get help from someone who knows spl. and they get a box made by that person, come to the second show and hit a 148.......same car, same gear but a much better box. is this competitor still an amature?
next show this same competitor hits a 149.5 with a bigger amp.......still an amature?? only his third competition......

my point is.......where do u draw the line???

Prolifik is right. HOw can you define an amature from a "pro" in a hobby that is you spend more money you get louder. dB is probably the only way to do it.
