What's your favourite Amplifier brand?
#31
^^I tend to agree..except I've had immense "luck" with RF amps, so I tend to use them more than others. I believe amps sound the same, and being a person that actually drives their car and not one that parks in the garage and auditions the system (though I've done that on occasion), I really only need them fit the system and installation parameters. To those that disagree, knock yourself out and get what you like and believe in...variety is the spice of life!

I find it interesting that so many keep going on about sound quality when it's been demonstrated numerous times by many reputable testers that no human has been able to tell the difference between amps in a double blind test with levels matched. Do I have to mention Richard clark's name or the amp challenge?? He still hasn't paid out yet. You would figure by now that some golden ear would have won. I guess the differences are so obvious that your mind shuts down and doesn't allow you to hear them...lol. This only applies to SQ, not aesthetics, reliability, efficiency, design goals etc...

So I guess Audison, Steg, Genesis, Tru, JL, Arc Audio, Butler, Cadence, DLS, Eclipse, Focal, Helix, JBL, McIntosh, PPI(art series), US Amps, Xtant, Zapco, Zapco are going to be on the list! Also you forgot to have none of the above!

Exactly! which means that the added processing makes the sound less accurate, ergo less SQ. You're paying for what amounts to fancy equalizers, and sound processors. Now, don't get me wrong, some of those eq's and processors may make the amp sound better to some people(and worse to others, I guess that's why we don't all agree on the best or favourite brand!)), but that's exactly where the subjective aspect comes into play. For an amp to be truly high fidelity, it should only amplify the information on the source, anything else is distortion.

yes yes, everything else is distortion.... or perhaps it is a tool to make them sound more realistic in the harsh car environment? One or the other I guess
