I like to use chunks of styrofoam and then duct tape them to seal them shut. Hot glue them into place to keep them from rattling around in the box. Nice and light and air tight at the same time.

it seems to me that styro would be to easy to compress giving the box different tuning depending on freq. and volume

Take a chunk of closed cell styrofoam and have your friend label you with it. It will hurt. Then duct tape the same type of the same size and repeat the labelling. Enjoy the bruising the next day and the following number of days. Don't ask how I know this.

You want SQ?

If you want SQ tighten up your box and drop the size of sub, 12s max pref. 10s if you can. a pair of 10s or even 3 for that extra punch in a tight sealed box will hit hard and clean. Make sure they are good quality subs and you power them properly. Having each sub powered by a seperate amp is always best not always nessecary but if you want the SQ as much as possible its the way to go, also make sure youve got a capacitor if your throwing out alot of power. this will help your battery put out the necessary voltage and current to hit each note accurately anf cleanly. Try and keep your settings as basic as they can be, if you need to adjust your highs lows and mids, either get a deck with a good EQ or buy a seperate unit to control at as many bands as you find necessary. Lastly, seal and dynamat your problem areas that cause the most rattling, all of your car is best but $$$ so i suggest usually the trunk and any areas you find rattle alot. These steps alone will HUGELY affect your SQ trust me, if your into SQ you wont regret it.

Are you kidding me?

There's been numerous posts in this thread that are so incorrect it's funny but I'm honestly starting to feel sorry for people asking questions in this forum.

My opinion was stated on the first page. I guess we can chalk that one up to another of your bad observations.

Maybe you wouldn't have people "trashing your ideas" on the forums if you were correct a little more often.
