Why do I have two 15" subwoofers?

Well by altering the volume of the box you can change its response (Qtc) and the F3 of the box. However both of these factors are dependant on the same varible: volume. I believe this is what Dukk was refering to earlier. By going ported you have independant control over these factors.

I believe they meant that in terms of common bass frequencies used in the selected material type ie. Rap more commonly uses lower frequencies than Dance/Trance/etc.
I don't believe they were referring to actual tuning at those frequencies but instead to tune higher or lower depending on intended results.

I would highly suggest re-building a smaller box for the subs...and try tuning it a little higher than 40HZ if possible.

So wouldn't tuning this high just make the driver sound like ? Wouldn't creating a vented enclosure that was tuned as close to the drivers Fs create the optimum sound quality for a ported enclosure? This is what I thought; maybe a more senior forum member can clear this up. I would think that if anything just the opposite would be true, that for boomy loud bass you would raise the tuning frequency (not to 60Hz though...) and for more accurate sound quality you would lower the tuning frequency?
OK... quick clarification, tuning the box slightly higher than what it is now might help....I've noticed when I adjust my X-over on my subs...tuning low allows good low end extension, but...I also have the ability to allow the subs to play up to 180HZ...thus giving me the impact necessary for techno...(where as when tuned lower, cuts off allot of my upper mid-bass impact, where my 6" can't reproduce as dynamically)...your box might roll~ofF alot of higher freq'ys above 40~hz very sharply...cutting off the sound regardless of how high you set your LP filter...meaning if you low end cuts off up to 80HZ...your box cuts it off at 40HZ...diluting upper mid-bass response your door woofer can never play loud enough.
