wire gauge question

i was checkin out the sundown saz-1000d and on the manual it says it uses 4 gauge(4) for the power supply connectors but when i scroll down through the manual to the section "power connection" it says

Connect the +12V terminal of the amplifier to the + terminal of the battery
using a large gauge power wire (preferably 1/0 gauge).

So which one do I use?

4 gauge would be the minimum size to use, but I would go with 1/0 depending on how long the wire will be. Do you have any other amps that you will be running off a Distro block?

Just go with 1/0 and only do it once. I went from 8 -> 4 -> 1/0. Save yourself the time and wire it up once.

Well I plan on getting an amp later for my speakers/components. So how big is a 1 or 0 gauge wire? How do you exactly hide wire that big lol

1/0 ( pronounced one ought) is about half an inch including insulation in diameter.

edit: But it does sepend on manfacturer. Not all car audio wire is created equal

It's also one size larger on the AWG then #1

1/0 Gauge is a fair size wire, but depending on your vehicle it can be pretty simple. It is a lot more flexible than you would think.

MOST DEFINATELY get some 1/0 and do it once. while your at it do your big 3 in 1/0 if possible and give your electrical system an upgraded favour
