I had a noise issue with my first system when I was kid. Local shop suggested I try an inline noise eliminating device that pluged into the RCAs. Well, it worked ok, but it performed it's task by reversing the polarity of the right side channels and running them through a magnetic coil. Boy did that ever mess up the sound.

i have always had pretty good seccess with most of my gear, but if i had to nail down to one phenomanally huge pile of crap it would be the first gen rockford symetry, had tons of noise, display failed in competition 6 hours from home, never worked well. i was glad i never had to pay for it, then i used 2 audio control 2xs's and a pair of eqt's and was happy as heck, oh and i can forget, all lightnig audio products, paticularily the amps and woofers were heinous, we had a 100% failure rate on the woofers and probobly a 50% failure rate on the amps, i had one fail doing 4ohm stereo to a pair of tweeters, now thats quality

^ Interesting. Was that the big white box Symmetry? Whenever someones says 'first gen Symmetry' I ask to clarify because sometimes they mean the first gen Symmetry EPX and not many know about the big white one.

I had a typical entry level Kenwood Head Unit in my last car before I wrote it off. Skipped constantly, and three to four times a month it wouldn't power up and I'd have to stick a mechanical pencil in the 'reset' switch to get it working again. Because it wasn't factory I was allowed to remove it after I wrote it off, I told them I'd pass.

I can't say I have really purchased anything that I thought performed really bad or was generally unhappy with. Probably because I buy brands I like and research my purchases. Although, when I bought my truck recently it came with a bottom-end Clarion CD player but worse than that was the cheapola Kenwood 2-way 6x9s in the $20 6x9 boxes behind the seat. Man they sounded like complete crap! Nice huge peak at around 200 Hz. Great for accentuating that heavy-metal guitar riff from some 80's hair band, but not so great for anything else

^ Probably the enclosures considering the airspace is incredibly small for a driver that was most likely designed for infinite baffle loading in a rear deck. Maybe I'll take out my 3-way front stage and put those 6x9s in my kick panels [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] [img]tongue.gif[/img]
