Worth it to buy used subs.....?

I found a guy localy who is selling 2 MassiveCW12 subs "brand new still in box".
He is selling them both for $299.

Im a little un easy about buying used, especialy for speakers... anyone think that they could potentialy be used with the beat out of them and just put back in the packaging? Or should these be fine no matter what they have been puth through?

Well for that kind of scratch it would be worth hooking them up and testing them out first. If the seller wont let you test them, i'd take that as a bad sign.
