Probably has to do with them being rendered non-street legal and the liability that would linger with the vehicle regardless of the stack of waiver forms that they made the purchaser sign.

Because they were not legal for sale in North America.
Alot of demo cars are pulled off the line before they get their VIN's and are destroyed after they have run their course. It gives body kit manufacturers etc. a chance to get product ready to hit the shops the same time as the cars are released.

not even close to being fact, the cars were bought by the company that makes hotwheels

man i love hot wheel's, when they had those world race car's i bought 15 out the 35. i have atleast 100 hotwheel's from 94 to 2004. i have atleast 1 car from each year.
