Xterminator liquid sound deadening....
PEI330Ci - Mr Adam- The application of an undercoating should skirt all the objections/ concerns with sound-deadening in your last post. The undercoating will be to stop the noise goesinta, from the floor, and not to move the sound source to the next weakest link. Of course you would now notice your new weakest link for noise gosinta more (let’s say its window seals) just because you’ve lowered the noise floor.
Sound absorption (foam, fiber mat, X-term, carpet) will always consume energy so the retransmission will be at a lower amplitude. The Dynamat type stuff has limited value for the higher freq absorption or retransmission but should do well for stopping structure born vibration.

Ok, so what I'm getting from this basically is that it's a tag team effort on the part of sound barrier and liquid vibration dampener (whatever it may be) to create the ultimate unwanted noise solution... and that liquid dampening product DOES infact create a sound barrier but just not equivalent to that of a solid or foam base like V/L Comp. Is this true?
Secondly, does anyone know if there exists a 100% transparent deadening product I can use on my windows?
Thanks for the help and well structured answers so far, folks.

Aerogell is translucent- 1)it is not clear and 2) you can’t afford it and 3)it won’t stand up to in car use as a translucent barrier (fragile).

Have thicker glass made....
As for the effects of any liquid deadening, it can work just fine without any help. But it simple won't span gaps. Use sheets for that.
Spray the panel, then add sheets for even more impressive performance..
I was messing with the sample of Xterminator I have and realised that it's easily tough enough to be a good undercoating. I don't know of any other materials that can claim that. You get rust protection and acoustic deadening from one material. Lay down some VB-3 from Cascade, mount some deflex pads behind the door speakers, seal up the doors with some B-Quiet and you are rocking and rolling

Man alive, you people. The politics is killing me.

My car currently does have an undercoating, but I'm gonna coat the underside again. It surprisingly doesn't catch much dirt, so it should be easy to clean and re-apply to where I need it most.

I don't know how well the Xterminator will stick to old undercoating, you should definately email John and find out. I tried putting a new undercoat on my beetle and it didn't stick to the old stuff very well. I took the old stuff off and it took forever let me tell you. And the new stuff stuck to it good, two years later I redid it and it stuck well, so it must have been an incompatability issue.

Lots of cars tend to burst into flames when CCA members start working on them..
I am of course in no way affiliated with GCA or Xterminator. I just think the stuff is cool. jon did a good job with it, so I support him, just like I support all products that perform well. The topic here was Xterminator, so yeah, I burted out what I knew about it. I read the website, learned more, and passed it on.
FYI, my car is going to be exclusively damped with Cascade Audio products... in case you think I am on the take...
Dereck, good point on the adhesion to existing products. I wasn't going to do it to my car, it's too old already and far too dirty underneath.
