"Y" splitters and rca's...

hi guys. is there any difference in running expensive SHORT rca's, like less than 3 feet and Y-splitters over running just the cheapest you can find, and by cheap i mean like a buck or 2 at the dollar store?? its not that im trying to be cheap, just curious. i mean, they will be hidden and they are very short. will i see any difference in performance over buying 7-10$ ("Y" splitters/foot long rca's) over just those black cheap sets?? since they are running such a short distance , would there be any problems, like whine or noise from cheap ones?? thnaks

How cheap does it have to be, before it's NFG?
The dollar store cables are not usually shielded...the ground that should be a shield is just a thin wire running alongside the signal.
You might not pick up any extra audible noise, but why scrimp for a few dollars and chance it?

Honestly, I've never had a problem using the cheap stuff(as long as they are installed properly) but when i use them I feel cheap, so i usually get stuff that is a little more expensive and it makes me feel better. As far as sound goes, i can't tell the difference.

well, they arent the dollar store ones EXACTLY, i should of said, they are those black cables with different colored ends on them, red, white and yellow. sorta the ones you get at canadian tire or some audio repair shop that has cheap ones hanging on the wall.the ones also that you get with connecting the back of home steroes inputs that come with the factory stereo.
