your first system!
Back in 1982 I had an 1965 Merc 1/2 ton ( I think ). Paid oh 100 for the truck 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree, manual every thing. No brand name cassett player, 100w boster eq, pair of 6x9's and 5 1/4ers. Did an spl back then and got 112db. Was knda cool because I paid about $112 for the " system" Boy I still miss that truck. Or was it the girl that i was daiting. Oh I married her.
My first GOOD system was a Marantz AM/FM Cass. and the speakers were drivers I bought from Celestion which were HF1300 and 4-in. mid-bass speakers, using a 12&18dB/Oct X/O that I made, mounted on a sheet of plywood on the rear deck of my '67 Beaumont (6cyl 230cu 1bbl).
Got stolen in To. on Parliament st.
The person that sold me the deck is well known today in the industry.

The year: 1992.
The vehicle: 1981 GMC Jimmy 2wd, red with the white removeable top and red cloth interior with white/black houndstooth seats. 305 2bbl and 140 fire-breathing horsepower.
The system:
Alpine 7801 CD player
Rockford SP-64 6.5" mids in custom lower door panels wrapped in white vinyl with custom removable grilles
Pioneer TS-21 (I think) soft dome 1" mids mounted high up on the a-pillar
Rockford SP-412 12" subs (2) mounted in a custom ported box covered in red carpet with a white arborite top which had an oval cut into it and plexi in the oval which is where the subs were mounted
Rockford PCH-84 8" sub mounted in a custom bandpass box INSIDE the factory console. When you flipped the lid, you looked through the plexi window into the backside of the bandpass box, which had mirror on the bottom and painted port tubes. Of course the inside was painted with Fleckstone. It then vented into the front chamber which vented out through holes in the cupholders. Hey, this was one trick system for a high school kid in a small city in Saskatchewan in 1992!
Alpine 3653 electronic 2-way crossover
Alpine 3522 25x2 amp powering the front end
Alpine 3542 60x2 running 2 ohm bridged to the subs
I competed in IASCA comps with it too. System was built by Dukk in the driveway of the townhouse we lived in. Okay, I will admit that before the front stage was done I was using ghetto blaster speakers powered by my CD player

1973 Plymouth Valiant. (I owned it in say.. 1983)
Under dash Clarion Cassette player.
Had volume control, balance(l/r), tone control, and FFWD/Eject button. That's right no rewind .. you had to eject the tape and flip it over for that.
Had a pair of clarion 6x9s in the rear shelf run from the decks feeble amp.
Upgrade was a 40+40 Realistic EQ/Booster a few months later (after that you could hear tunes outside the car!!!).
Also used the stock AM radio (no FM) with the single stock speaker in the center of the front dash.
