zapco or AUDIOCONTROL
#2
Audiocontrol DQXS & DDC - Approx $ = 700 - 800
Six Channel Three-way Crossover
Six Input and Eight Output Channels
One-third Octave and One Half Octave Equalization Controls per Channel
Two Parametric Equalizers per Channel
142 Total Equalization Filters
Outputs for Front Highpass, Front Bandpass, Rear Highpass, and Subwoofer Outputs
24dB/octave Linkwitz Riley Alignment Crossover Slopes
Eight User Programmable Memories
Utilizes an Audio Enhanced DSP
Output Level Controls
Input for Optional DDC (Digital Dash Control)
Zapco DSP6-SL & DRC-SL - approx $ = 1200
The DSP6-SL comes standard with the DRC-SL dash control but also comes with DPN software to enable the Digital Programming Network from a laptop via USB cable. This unit is a 6 channel digital processor that provides crossover, equalization, Q-Bass and time delay for each channel, which is processed by 6 discrete processors and can be adjusted in stereo pairs or individually. It has 3 pairs of rca analog inputs, 3 pairs of simbilink outputs, and 3 sets of optical digital inputs. You can pick your amp, pick your function, make the adjustment and see/hear it all in real time. You can save the file and store settings for multiple uses such as certain types of music or when you are competing.
I have not heard or seen either one in action, but I was considering the Zapco unit till I decided I would go with the DC650.6 6 channel amp instead as the digital amp incorporates the DPN program so I have no need for the processor.

Did AC drop the price drastically on the DQXS + DDC or something? Because I know they were well over $1000. More like $1500.
I still say get an Alpine H701 with RUX-701 controller but that's just me. Unless you plan on running a 2-way front end with a sub or have another processor to handle the subwoofer functions and use the 3-way xover of either of those units for the front-end only.
Since I'd still be skeptical if the AC piece was really that cheap and probably more along the price of the Zapco, I'd go with the Zapco. It has time alignment which the AC does not.

I find I'm leaning towards Eclipse and Zapco, even if they excedded my budget a bit ($300-500 per component), plan to go back again this weekend with a few CD's and get some prices.
