So 6" is the most readily available big ones.

I know some guys in europe are using bigger ones and some custom made ones.

I've been toting the idea of producing 8" and 10" ports for a decent price.

I've got some real good contacts that could make this work.

I need to know what sizes would work well for people. Also what you would be willing to realisticly pay for them.

They would work the same way as the ones now by using pvc pipe from the hardware store. Except I would build my realisticly and make a sch 20 pipe actually fit. None of this silly flismsy can't buy it at home depot crap.

Also they will most likely be made of Aluminum. and not PVC. (setup costs) Injection moulding die are really expensive versus cast moulds for metal.

I will have to machine 1 or a few for the cast but if anyone is interested I could probably get one machined for about 400$ in less then 2 days.

Lets hear your thoughts guys.

What is the advantage of an aeroport versus a big badass slot port not trying to be an *** just curious

LOUDER.

Flows air more effeicently then a slot does. Also because of the shape of some boxes they work better. And finally the most important the are easily tuned therefor louder cause you have more testing time!

If it's faster it's louder! More testing time! FX Audio guys know what I'm talking about!

i think thats a great idea. whatever u make them out of makesure u make holes in the flares so u can actually screw them to something. i seen metal ports in europe and they had no holes from the factory.

i personally would pay $40 for a pair of properly made flares (has to have an actual flare)

6 inch, 7 inch, 8 inch whatever size u can make them i would be interested.

You can't buy a 6" for that.

I think 7 or 8" would be best for street classes, but maybe we will see some walls with bigger aeroports this year.
I would like to do some testing with differents flare angles (some that flare out quickly, and others that have less flare).
The proper amount of flare would be determined by the velocity of air in the port, because the curve should ideally follow the curve that the air would make without the port there. I think the trick is to find the radial angle that is large enough to allow the air to flow out freely, but small enough to eliminate turbulence.

I have tryed 3 different brands of aeroports, and with the same length, they differed by almost a dB depending on frequency and volume.

very true!! but.. now in every application you try a diff port/flare would work better in some then other as well! hard to say what would be the best! accually i have given up on the word "best" in general.

I use the terminology "best for my application" i think spl tests for subs, and ports are VERY hard to do, and most of the time are only acurrate to yourself. for amps, it's a little diff, cause usally the more power, the louder.. but who knows... spl is all about testing...

$40 is not enough? u asked what we would pay so i told u. i think $60 for the 6 inch ports is abit too much. I WOULD still pay for it but i'd feel ripped off at the same time.
