17 volts
#1
So, since the 3X event at the Olympic Oval next month is indoors & all classes must run with motors off...
Will my Orion 1200D amplifier handle 17 volts okay? I can borrow some 8 volt batteries from my warehouse and use them! They sit at 8.5v each, fully charged & ready to rock... So they'll be at 17.0 to 17.2 max, when I turn the amp on. I would wire it so just the sub amp runs off the 8v'ers, I'll disable my other amps and run the HU off the van battery...
I just don't wanna hurt my amp... Or my sub, for that matter
If so, I'm running SS1-2 NW, I thinks...
If I'm to scared to run that baby on 16v, then I'll stick with Street Max 1-2...

To answer your question the Orion amplifiers will not run high voltage without having the over voltage protection removed. I have no idea what you need to remove to eliminate the protection in that amp. However the amps that we have modded or removed protection on took little more then removing a few resistors and diodes. I am pretty sure that the Orion amps will shut off and protect at either 14.9 or 15.9 volts, either way to run a 16v set-up protect needs to be removed.
