hey guys im happy to have found a good site with some good people into helping others..... well heres what ive got,
I drive a GMC Jimmy ( basically a blazer )

I am getting two kicker Comp Vr 12's dual 4ohm
I am running a Lanzar Vibrant amp 800watt 2 channel it's ratted at 800 watts bridged at 4ohms, so id say i will get atleast 400rms. I'll be runing the subs in series parralle..
I hear that a ported box will give me 3dbs in most cases.
The specs on the box i plan to build are....
30inches wide, ( due to space issues )
14inches tall,
28inches deep,
it's going to be a single inclosure with a 2x4 brace imbetween the subs,
Subs to the roof, and ports to the rear, im going to have 3-4" aero ports 12inches long, instaled around 4inches from the bottom of the box....
Im told it has around 1.75 and 2.25, and that meets kickers specs for the subs... and there rated at 400rms... Will this do good, cuz im new to this so i dont want to just go out and build a box that some one told me would do good, Please let me know and comment if ya like....

well what u have lsted above is defiantly a start. that box seems to be a good size to start with as well. now put the subs facing upward, and the ports all facing backward. but make sure when the ports are facing backward, there is about 8-12 inches of room between them and your hatch. that allows for thr air flow out the ports to be effective.

you can also try all ports and subs facing upward. that works well in suvs to. give both a try.

are you wanting just an everyday driving system, or you looking to compete SPL wise as well?

make your box 28x29x14 common chamber

put subs on the top of the box and have ports shooting out the back. use aero ports that are 4 inches in diameter. i would try 3 ports. this box will give your subs about 2 cft after displacement. make the ports 12 inches in lenght including flares.

your box should look like this, but with 3 ports instead of 4. center the ports in the middle beside each other.

use round ports like i said, just like the ones shown in the picture. they are called Aero ports and they have flares. u can order some from www.psp-inc.com there are no cons to using them, only pros. they are flared so the port intakes more air thus making it shoot the air out faster = increased spl. plus its really easy to tune and adjust the plastic port, just cut it with a saw or glue it back together with pvc glue. once u use those u will never go back to a slot port again.

your box should look something like this here, this box was the loudest in my jeep

and this is how u round off the corners in the box. just stick a peice of wood in the corner thats cut on a 45 degree angle and then just use some kind of body fill to completelly round it off and cover it all with some resin.

u wont need to round the box inside

the ports are really not that big, they only look big. the whole is only 4 inches. u asked for box advice so this is what i advise u to do. u dont have to tho but i would if i wanted the loudest bass with the gear u have and the vehicle u drive.

if u go with the aero ports they come in 18 inch lenght. u wont need all of that. cut it down so the whole thing is 12 inches and then u good to go. u dont even need to glue, just tape the flares to the straight pipe and screw the outtter flare to the box.

i think one port assemply runs about $12 from the website i showed u
