I'm looking for the best bang for the buck sub, under $200 CDN.
Still leaning towards the Alpine, but thought I'd look into the Boston since it was recommended and in the same price range.

Doing some calculations with WinISD, the Alpine will work great in a small box, which I need for my small trunk, while the Boston seems to need a bigger box to perform as tight.

I'm aiming for a QTC of 0.7 or so because I already have a boomy system and am not satisfied with it. It's currently in the 1.25 QTC range.

Do I have the calculations wrong or am I missing something here?

I actually heard many review of the newer type R's with the newer surround and increased Thermal Power Handling less prone to failure. The type R works best in a ported. I would go with alpines recommendations.

I'm running 4 alpine type R's with a pair of mtx 1501D's @2ohms no issues of any kind. I find then to be a very clean sub with stupid loud spl.
