Amp for SX's?

Any suggestions on what amp would be ideal for two RE SX's?
Theyre dual 2 ohm, and rated at 1000RMS, but I'm not sure what sorta power they could handle for a 3 second burparoonie.

I was thinking that my best bet would be something that puts out around 2000rms at 2 ohms for daily driving, but would also be able to be wired to .5 ohm nominal to squeeze a bit more power out for a burp... assuming the SX's could handle it.

OR

An amp for each sub, each ran at four ohms daily and one ohm for burps.

Price won't really be a factor (within reason), and neither will electrical.

I just opened a new box with a big honkin' MTX amp inside. Hmmmm, 1968w rms into a 1 ohm load.....that should work for you. 2 ohm measured power = 1460w rms. This is one of the new MTX 81001 amplifiers.

A friend of mine has one of those bad boys on a 9500 12" and its a pretty sick setup. I'm not sure it'd work for this application though.

Unless I were to opt for a pair of them... but I think I'm leaning towards a single amp setup, for cost and conveniance reasons. I appreciate the suggestion though!

Hmm... I wonder if a couple of them would strap at .5 nominal - although I think one would do the trick for now
