BA inhuman and RE HC
Forsure get the Inhumans, killer subs.
We used them for 2 years when we were competing and they were the toughest woofer we ever used.
If the ones you are looking at buying have a nut spacer between the basket and top plate then it can be reconed with RE HC parts. Maybe it was the other way around........ Don had a few differnt things he tried with the inhumans.
The Inhuman and HC do use the same motor structure but Don added more cooling and the soft part configurations were different from woofer to woofer. Don taylored each driver to what it was being used for, ie spiders, copper or aluminum coils, stuff like that.
The Inhuman not only got stupid loud with not an insane amount of power (1000 watts rms is enough) but I found they sounded better then the HC as well no mechanical noises.

I had both a BA Inhuman and a RE HC for a small period of time. Both 15" versions running off of 1400 rms. I didn't have much time to play around with these or a meter, but from a straight swap in a 5 cube ported box tuned to ~ 38Hz, the HC was noticably louder on daily music. The inhuman seemed to take the power better and my guess would be get louder then the HC with an increase in power.
Both excellent subs though!

cone appears to be made out of the exact same material aswell.
inhuman:
HC (first version):

any one have any inside info on this? General consensus is that both subs are pretty efficient. HC will get loud and drop down really low while the inhuman is more established in SPL (atleast it was a year or two ago).
same woofer different badging?

Sitting in my explorer almost makes you wanna get sick. Its great
