Bandpass for spl
A few people in Europe have started playing with bandpass boxes.
A lot of people dismiss them because of how difficult they are to tune and get working properly, but if you CAN get it working, it should be worth the efford.
You just have to decide if you want to invest that much time.

They can be really good as jordy said. A friend of mine built one, took him about a day to design, and with 2000 watts at 1 ohm, and 1 dual 2 ohm 12, it his 145 db's. Not too bad for a first attempt, and it was a daily box too hehe.
The big problem that I see is that his box was friggin HUGE. It was about 10-12 cubes net volume, I mean just the entire size of the box. Seems huge for a trunk application.

i did an 11 cube 6th order in my cavi before i only did a 143 with a single 15 but the bass was so dip i could shake windows atleast a block or 2 away i'm thinking i might play around with one for the sportage..........we'll see
When I competed in SPL I used a 4th order bandpass cabinet in my CRX. With 800 watts I was able to do 156's. Which was good enough the take the eastern Canadian finals (back in the day). The box was very complicated to build but the results were worth it.
I love this Bandpass concept, it was suggested to me about 1 yr ago, by 20HZ. I never went through w/ the idea due to the complicity of the box. It looks like an idea to re-think.
But pardon my ignorance, but what does it mean 4th order & 6th order.
