I think WInisd is not very good for SPL...from my experience it hasn't been anyway...Termcad is the best....

Should I be tunning by box to the resonance frequency or should i tune it a bit lower so that the spl peaks at my resonance frequency ?

Your car will always peak above the tuning of the box by around 5-7 hz, so you will want to tune it lower than the resonant frequency for SPL.
A program like WINisD is all you need to find tuning, and from there it is your own ideas that will make the box louder.
I like to use a program I wrote on Linux for my graphing calculator because it takes into consideration the differences in tuning introduced by round ports, slot ports, aeroports, etc. and the program can be adjusted to accomodate the differences. It won't give you a graph or anything, but it has been more accurate than anything else I have used for finding tuning.

For spl, just use um for tuning and that's about all.

Which box are you building, a box for a Golf or a box for a CRX?

I'm building a CRX style box (ports firing to the back, subs facing up) for my golf
