Busbars on SAE Posts?

What's the best way to attach a busbar to an SAE style battery post? I have a couple bars that are about .25" thick and 1.5" wide.

That first pic is from a friend of mine's setup and I think those are threaded studs but looks like the second pic would work... Cool

That first pic is gorgeous. Looks like someone works in a machine shop, or knows someone who does.

worldind: I have new positive and negative Knukoncepts terminals similar to the items shown in Yuli's second pic.

They each take three 1/0 AWG cables. I dont have them for sale or anything, but pm me if its something you could use.

Sounds somewhat handy, but I'll be needing more than 3 connections per polarity. I think I may have to get some thicker bars and try to copy the idea.

This is what I did. Used those marine battery post clamps.

worldind: Np, i ended up not using them and they're just sitting on the shelf.

Jason: Thats pretty good. I'll probably never purchase multi-terminals again after seeing that. I did purchase a couple of positives and negatives that have the "V" in the middle with a strap of steel (think clamp) held by 2 bolts. on either side.

Similar to the Hex head Bolt type here:

Those 2 bolts would make perfect, solid mounting points for a plate. Scrap piece of stock, drill a few holes, dead simple to make and dirt cheap.

Yeah, that's a solid idea Blazin... something like that would work perfectly for my skinny little busbars.

And John, I think something like the "custom battery terminal" in the above picture would also be ideal; something with a post and wingnut or something to bolt a strip of material to. Good finds.

The terminals I used looked pretty much exactly like those "custom made terminal" ones. I just put the bolt down through the aluminum instead. I actually tapped the aluminum, put the bolt into that, then a nut on the bottom as well. Did a similar thing for my other truck as well also using the threaded stud on the blue tops. These ones aren't fully done yet though.

What I tried first was interesting. I got one of those double bolt ones like we are talking about, then purchased 4 posts (2pos 2 neg) and bolted the posts to the terminal, so in effect I had a 4 post battery when I was done. Surprisingly there was enough room for 2 terminals each, plus the hood clearance was tight, but OK.

I didn't end up using the idea, but you can see the possibilities from the idea.

A pic when youre done would be cool

Cheers

John
