the reason for not allowing amps of over 2000w is because the class is 2000w restricted. not 2500w 3000w or 5000w. The class is meant for everyday non competition equipment. how much non competition grade gear has a rating of more than 2000w?

I was just gonna say that like for a dvd deck, dvds are definitely not designed for a 12v setting, so would they be considered legal?

and going back to ipods for hopefully the last time, what if there was a factory head unit on some new car that had a built in jack for ipods or like a docking station kinda thing in the dash or centre console, factory mind you, not part of a custom install, doesn't that warrant ipods legal for the 12v environment? I mean, it seems that the case can be argued for ipods since they can have movies and games and books, which is the same thing as a data cd, just a different format. I don't even know why I'm asking since I hate ipods. I would really just hate to see some other potential competitors shy away because of a rule like this.

as for bluetooth, technically it'd be playing mp3s just from your phone, so I don't see how that isn't allowed. I mean, I have an idea as to why it might be disallowed, but I don't want to say it in case I'm wrong or in case I'm right and you call me a moron for asking a stupid question I know the answer to.

you still haven't answered my question. but thanks for educating me on how 2500w is more than 2000w all those university calculus and physics classes somehow missed that....

my argument is: what relevance does "competition grade" vs "non-competition grade" have when everyone has to clamp under 2kw? dbdrag obviously doesn't trust even the non-competition grade amps out there if they need to clamp every run, so why make rules based on dubious manufacturer ratings?

is it horribly uncommon for people to NOT get more than 1500w out of their systems in stock? seems unlikely, but possible I suppose. if that's the case, I could see efficiency as being a reason to keep big amps out of the class. but to date absolutely nobody has stated this as a reason for the rule.

who determines what is "non comp grade"? is it simply anything <2kw? are some <2kw "rated" amps illegal?
I remember people (me included) arguing here when finding out that competitors were allowed to use an AB200.1, which up until recently was a rated and bonafide 3kw amp. who looks at these things?

I dont' compete in stock, but some of these rules make little sense. I tried getting clarification on Termpro months back, but never received an answer worth reading.
