Just wondering if I remove my unused rear speakers and leave the holes open if i will increase, decrease or uneffect my SPL. I am running a 12L7 in a ported box. Thanks.

It could do any of those 3.. try it and let us know.. every car is different.. and the only way your really going to find out is by testing.. that's what spl is all about.. testing, testing, and more testing.. good luck!

I found that in my cavalier, it helped a lot, and if there were no speakers there, then I couldn't hyper-extend them with the air movement from the subs LOL (I lost 2 pair of 6x9s this way before I wised up)

When I removed my 6*9s, I found out that the little bit of port noise (before I put in my sealed box) that I had, was now very audible. SPL might have increased, but not a noticeable level.

When I removed my back speakers, a lot of my back deck rattling went away but other then the perceived increase in SPL because of less background noise, a meter showed nothing really changed.

I went a month without rear speakers in my deck and the spl was definitly louder. I felt it wasn't worth it to me because of the amount of highway driving I do, I heard alot of wind and road noise coming through from my trunk. If you can look pass that, then I would do it if I were you.

It may help because you have a car with a trunk, i would try it and meter it for sure.
