Cool Is "Drive By" Part of DB Drag? If So, Why Don't We Do It?

I'm watching "Drive-By" all over the internet ... really cool event in my opinion, just wondering why we don't do it here in Ontario.

Define any other format ...

Because I can't see the CRX's and the Golf's winning this ... while, I CAN see Jimmy's instead.

Honestly, it works on the idea that car stereos are for making noise. So, why not.

there are classes in drive by, so a walled car would not go against a car with pair of speakers in the trunk.........so if a walled car wins the other format it is in (say super street), it will also win drive by in its class.

i know you like asking questions so I will tell you about drive by and why we will never have it.

drive by spl is a format protected by copy rights and patent laws under MECA. you can not just ad a format to Db Drag it will never get approved and you would get into . This is the same reason why head - to - head format only happens in Db Drag and not any other org in North America. It is protected by copy rights under Db Drag Association.

so, if you want drive by here, you gotta bring in MECA. but since every single car that is geared towards a class is built by Db Drag rules, and a few IASCA geared cars (because those are the dominating Orgs here and have been for years), no one will enter MECA. MECA has substatial differences in rules and classes (again, everything is procted so you have to be different), they even put mic into the kick panel bla bla.

for 94% of people here entering MECA would be like doing a Formula 1 race with a 4 door sedan, it just would not work/fit.

i think MECA would be nice to see... especially the 'fusing' classes.

seeing people build 160db cars that are in the 0-150A fuse class is quite an achievement

i like the fuse idea as well. i also like the fact that they have a trunk class

the reason meca never happened here is becuase majority of the SPL orgs are very region oriented. Meca is huge in its geographic spawn.

same with anything else, like NSPL is huge in some states and DB Drag is only big in North East and Mid West.

we hardly have enough people here to support Db Drag and IASCA somewhat. CSPL didnt survive even and it had great potential. you gotta realize that too many orgs wont work. if you have like 3 orgs in one region majority of the people will pick one org out of the 3 available, so you would end up having like a 33% split between competitors and 3 orgs, in that scenario there isnt enough competitors to support any individual org. When you have one org then you have pretty much everyone participating in it, this way atleast it is someone sustainable with respect to cash flow and turn outs.

it is the same everywhere. in areas where MECA or NSPL are popular you will not find a Db Drag or IASCA show period.
