Fellow Type-R owners, just a quick question...

Is anyone feeding over 1000W RMS to a 12" Type-R?

I'm doing 750W right now and am considering upgrading the amp to about 1000W if it can take it without ripping it apart.

I believe there was a guy on here that had 1000Wrms going to his Type R for a week and smoked it. Even posted pics.

Old Type R 15 and Memphis 1500D it died in 3 hours =p

put the RMS into it that it is rated for.

a very small sealed enclosure it may take more then 300 rms and be alright but in a ported box if you drop below your tuning and give it over rated power free air it'll smoke

I'm putting 1800 RMS into 2 10 inch type R's.

Sound amazing. Only problem I've ever had is I keep blowing the fuses under my hood. Time to go Bigger.

My RF 750S is actually putting out about 975W RMS right now, but I'm trying to find an amp underrated at 1000W.

I play it at that level all the time, so I don't know how that guy feeding 1000W to it blew it. I'll have to search for those pics.

I was aiming for a RF 1100a2 but the deal didn't go through.

I have the newer version of the Type R, which is supposed to have better power handling than the old version.

I don't have the trunk space to make a bigger box, and I don't see how that would make it louder with the same power without affecting some other characteristic of the sound.

Hmmm... Lots of varied replies.

No, the older version of the 12" had a power rating of 300W/1000W but the newer ones have a 500W/1500W rating.
