I was curious.. Looking through different box designs / pictures etc etc .. that some people use fibreglass on the inside of there subwoofer box.. Im not talking the fibre fill stuff but the actuall long strand / short strand stuff along the interior walls of the box..

Is there a benifit to this..

I currently have a 4.6 Cubic foot box.. Slot port, would I benifit to doing this and how?

not only that one of the biggest advantages to glassin the inside of your box , and the outside as well. It stops the wood from breathing beleave it or not mdf will leak air .

Just wondering why you would need glass on the outside as well as the inside.

If it's airtight from the inside what's the point in doing the outside as well?

use the kitty hair to round off and smoothen ALL corners of the box...sand smooth the resin...sand and resin... 2 coats total seems to work really well...proven time and time again that you will gain SPL form getting rid of the corners by limiting standing waves inside the box and allowing for better air flow... if done right I have gained from 0.5 to 1db depends on how much air space you use up in the box... so on small boxes try to be carefull not to take up too much airspace but still make it nice and SMOOTH

besides looks if you have a poor seal on the trun or hatch and water gets in it prevents from water causing your mdf to SWETT to 100000000 its original thickness you can never have too much resin....gotta love the fumes

So it looks like im on my way to my nearest boating outlet to by some resin and kitty hair..

unfortunatly how big the box is,, and i had to remove my trunk release / peel away the rubber seal and pull the baffle off to get the box in the trunk, going fibre all the way around the outside is an issue.. but its easy to do the inside with the baffle off,, the just seal the baffle up through the speaker holes..

I will take some before / during and after pictures,, this will be my first attempt with fibreglass.. but i got like 9 different tutorials printed out so i should be good to go.. Who know i might even make it to autoessy's show this sunday to finally find out where on the db scale i am..
