Going in my first SPL comp...

I'm running a JL 1000/w amp to a Alpine Type X sub. It's in a built to spec sealed box (sounds awesome). I know there's a lot of haters on the Type X, but i'm willing to bet i'll hit above 140+. Do you think I will?

Also, what's a good song to play?.. Thanks.

My buddy got 136.2 with 2 Type S's on a 700w PEAK Alpine amplifier and he says without a doubt mines louder. I'll know Saturday night what I get, my bold prediction is 140+. It's at the JCO Bash, it's the real deal...

i think that what your buddy percieves as louder is just bass extention. i am willing to put money on the fact that u will not be much louder at all. spl and a port r preaty much hand and hand. when some one asks for advice it is not a bad idea to give it thought when u recive some dude. any who that amp is highly underrated and will actually produce around 2000watts rms and as for the song that u want to use u should look for a test tone disc and find tl or ac mic to go and test for your cars peak freaquency seeing as how the box wont have one and then use that note to (burp) your car to get the highest possible spl!

Thanks for the tip!

I'll post my results Saturday night/Sunday morning. If I hit above 140+ i'm happy, anything less it was a dissappointing day. A person who has been going in Sereo comps for years and doing stereo installs for years says i'll hit 142 or damn close to it.
