Ground Wire Runs

A question about why I see several of you SPL competitors running such long runs of 1/0 ground/power wire. I thought the ground had to be 3 feet max from the amp? Or is it because your running multiple runs, or because the guage is big enough that it isn't a problem running it back to the battery? Sorry just confused, and whats the advantages of running it back to the battery? Quicker response, more power?

zzz its to early to be on the computer , but if the flow is traveling directly back to the battery it would recycle the energy making it less of a drop instead of traveling though out the frame of your vehicle.

hope it helps =]

So in a sense, if it's more efficent, why do they tell you to just tap the ground into the frame close to the amp, and not run a ground wire to the battery?

you can do it either way really, as long as the car is not too old and rusty
