Im done with this thread..but FYI if the originator(bigsliks) has asked for a more indepth explanation I am capable of answering it... so the guy that walked off the street left happy and satisfied... not confused

but really would you put a box on your dashboard? or passenger seat? don't bother answering that... this ofcourse is SPL general discussion not SQ general discussion

I love the internet LMAO!

Seriously though guys, that whole wave length theory don't work.

Remember this is a pressure sensors and that reasonating materials, air volume and shape in the vehical will determine frequencies and SPL.

The wavelength theory would work is you had a pefect aligned square box with no or hardly and resonating factors involved....

Ask around to find out a starting point for a frequency and test from there.

And trying to stick to the topic...

I just learning this stuff so bare with me.

when tuning a box, a diffrent size box and diffrent size port are what tune it to a frequency right?
now I know higher is better for SPL and lower is better for SQL?

will higher hz give me lower deeper bass or harder louder bass?
I want to hit the lows really hard is that what SPL is?

thanks Steve
SPL is typicly in the higher frequencies of the bass range 20-80 hz.

SQL is in the middle somehwere.

SQ is typacly tuned low.

Having a nice low hitting, louder sounding SQL system usually doesn't fair will on the mics even though it may sound way louder.

hey if i was in extreme 1 and hitt'n 163.1 i wouldn't be butning anyone!
my mother could do better.
infact how longago did Alma hit higher than that?!

I guess I will be leaning toward SQL for my system.
also SQ will do worse on a mic then SQL?
If I use the same sub same amp and same ported box, could I just change out the port for a diffrent port to achieve diffrent hertz tuning?
If some one thinks I should post this Question in the SQ forum I will.

Thanks
Steve

yes you will be able to change the frequency by doing just that. it won't be optimal but it will work.
