Or Western Canada for that matter.

I think the ONLY problem with competition in ANY format is organization. Everyone says 'yeah, let's have a comp' and then it doesn't work out, and people ge tannoyed becauase of delays, one runs, etc.

dB Drags should be organized with enough time to allow 2-3 prelim runs, that gives the people who don't make the brackets a fair value for their fees, and enough time to tune also.

All comps should really stick to their scheduled times, if even within an hour. I'm used to going to a comp now and standing around for 3-4, or even MORE hours waiting to get going. Hell, last comp I went to, I left after the FIRST round because I budgeted my time out to be done by 2:00, when the thing only started at 1:30, scheduled for 9:00.

I really would like to attend all the events around here, but it is hard to go to these smaller events when they are so unorganized and have so many drawbacks. We still make as many compe as possible, but it is damned near impossible to have all our cars there, since they either get disqualified , o rcannot make the entire event because a competition intended for the afternnon runs well into the evening, etc...

Cool

hi all, i feel that the #1 thing is to have fun , and enjoy the company of fellow bassheads .i see subtle differences between idbl & dbdrag. the one thing that i'd like to see is the combination of events held together at the same venues, as to allow people aquireing points in either idbl, and db drag to have a choice. i believe that guys on the points run for idbl and dbdrag would both agree......organization would be the key!!

arok, how can you call a show unorganized and then state that you had to leave because you didn't budget the time. it's like the pot calling the kettle black . sounds funny to me.oh well. if a show runs behind or late(which happens alot). fine so be it. it's a well known fact, you should be used to it by now. but how can you leave early and then say its there fault. if you can make it to the show stay till the end. you should organize your time to go to the show and be able to collect your award at the end. shows i've been to start at 9:00 am and goto 6:00 pm, whether they start at 9 or not, whether the end at 6 or not.(except for these crazy evening db drags). there are always exceptions to every rule. But just sounds weird that your calling a show unorganized, and yet your time wasn't either. but hey cest la vie right?

When you enter Red Deer, you will find Gaetz St. It is the main road through the city. Had north, if coming from Southern Alberta. Keep drive until you see a Totem Building center, its a HUGE building. It is the first right after Totem, 78 or 78a st. Look for a BIG blue van, I mean like smurf color. The store is 50 feet from Gaetz St. Any questions, or if you are lost call 1-877-4 -WESTEC, it is free from a pay phone.

I belive what people mean by organization is, moving the cars into the judging lanes. Having a corral ara for competitors. From vechile checkins etc. Aot of shows competitors are told to park where ever. Wait until you called, then try and move your car to the judge's lanes. General things like that. I do not belive that time was the main factor...

Yeah Westec pretty much nailed it.

I know it sounds ironic that I said shows are unorganized yet I didn't have th etime to stay, but that competition I was reffering to I had not actually entered to compete, just there to support other competitors. I could not stay for much of the competition becaus eI had previous arrangments.

Pretty much it takes planning to do a show, and then people will keep coming back. The effort works on both sides of the table.

i agree, nothin sucks more then "show starts at 11am SHARP" and the first cars arent called up till like 2pm....

same reason i didnt stick around at the car salon show.... took too long, had other things to do. like we really shouldnt be complacent and say well thats how it is, u shold know that by now... really how hard is it to start when u say? like when someone says ok show will run from noon till 4, i gotta work at 5 so i can go to the show... then all of a sudden it doesnt ACTUALLY start till 2... so now its ending closer to 6...

i like db drags, cus not only is it number of subs but amount of power too. whereas IDBL its straight surface area. u can have one amp per sub, well some of us cant afford 2 of everything, or even one big piece of equipment,
last year db drags mini street compensated perfect for this type of competitor

ive yet to see anything similar in IDBL so like ive said many a time before, im not bringin a knife to a gunfight, my setup cant compete with 5x the power in IDBL....

The worst was last year.. a show was "starting at 10 am sharp", I ended up being up super late the night before and getting up early to get there (it was a little bit of a drive), get there, wait and wait, and the damn thing doesnt start until 2ish..
