JL Audio 12" W3 or Alpine Type R 12D4

I know they are two totally different subwoofers, but which would be louder. I have a Hifonics 1700.1D amplifier that pushes 1200 watts at 2 ohms and 1700 watts at 1 ohm. If I am going for SPL which would be better. I understand that the JL Audio W3 is a single voice coil 4 ohm subwoofer with a rms of 300-600 watts and the Alpine Type R 12D4 is a dual voice coil 4 ohm subwoofer with a rms of 300-1000 watts. Now this being said if I use the JL Audio W3's I know I will get SQ for sure, also I would be putting them into a spec box of 1.25 cubic ft per chamber in a sealed enclosure, which would be punchy. They would both be getting a little under 600 watts each at 12.5 V. For the Alpine's they would be in a ported box of 1.00 cubic ft per chamber tuned to 35 Hz. These two Alpines would be getting a little under 850 watts each at 12.5 V. So all in all, which would be louder, most SPL. The ported Alpine Type R 12D4's or the sealed JL Audio W3's?

EASILY TYPE R.

also your comparing SEALED to ported... youll never see a sealed box in an spl competition.

w3's dont get overly loud more of an sq type of woofer

I'd highly suggest a larger volumed box for a pair of type r's - 1 cube each isnt quite enough

I figured that's what someone's answer would be, as for using a larger ported box, I do not have room in the back of my 1998 Lexus GS300 to fit any larger of a box. And according to specs the Alpine Type R can be in a 1.0 to a 2.0 cubic feet ported box. So I figured I would get just over a little of 1.0 cubic feet for these guys and see what they can do. I am guessing it'll still be a little punchy, but I think it will louder than my set up right now, I have 2 RE Audio SEX 12D4's in a sealed enclosure of .75 cubic feet per chamber. As of right now I get that punchy bass with them, if they were in a 1.0 cubic feet enclosure they would probably be boomy. The ported box dimensions I would be using is 15 H X 31 W X 9 TD X 13 BD. I want to make a port frequency of 32 Hertz. Does anyone know how to calculate the length and width of the port?

Why not hit one type r 15" ported, or 3 10's ported try to get on the bigger side of the scale, 1 ft cubed and ported will never happen unless you go external port....and as a smart man on here says, minimal space=minimal bass...
