I would stay away form the JVC. JBL has been doing some SPLstuff with team Gates and the like. What I find interesting is that Team Kenwood Latin America took home something like 90% of the IASCA prizes this year using entry priced product.
SO i guess application and system design are more important than the brand name. Just a thought.
Are you looking to compete in SPL or are you looking to build a loud systme to listen to music with. You can't have both. (Sorta like "no season" tires.) I know that I do not want to listen to an enclosure tuned to 88Hz, while this is what is winning SPL competions.

BTW: I was looking at moving to the KFC-XW12R "big Boy" sub. Can you get these at your work? How much do you sell them for?

It is true, Kenwood do not makes, any dedicated spl sub, but as G-Rado mentioned, we are using them down in south america, and beating people using DD, RE, Pioneer SPL subs, Crossfire, and other "SPL" subs. You cant beat the feeling of using a $90.00 sub and beating people using subwoofers costing 5 or more times.

With this i am not saying this is the best subwoofer out there, but we did find a lot of tech support from Kenwood, and that makes a lot of difference
