Dont forget Evans 12's are sealed. They work very well like that, they have a nice sound and still get loud.

although I still prefer my x

nice.
Not really, having more excursion doesn't really mean its going to be louder.

so larger cone area AND more excusion don't mean it's going to be louder? So side by side two identical woofer models, one 12" and one 15" in spec boxes, the 15 won't be louder? well the question is TWO 12's versus ONE 18...

The rule of thumb that has always been used is doubling the power OR doubling the cone area will give you an approximate 3 dB gain. I'm not saying that it's double but from what numbers I can see on the Kicker website there would be a difference in cone area with the advantage being to the pair of 12's.

The 18'' has more cone area than the 2 12s first of all, also the single 18 can handle twice as much power as both 12s combined, having more excursion wont even help the 12s in this case.

Edit: You also did your calculations wrong, for the 12s it would be 112 in^3 and the 18 would be 212 in^3.

yours is just insane and I loved it, there were times when I almost jumped out because it felt like my insides were caving in lmao and I loved it

and evans is just sweet I never would have thought that 4 12" L7's sealed would sound sooo good with music but yet still deadly for deep bass great work you guys

the 18 has more area, but to produce double the output it would need a box that produced equivelant response. This box may be much, MUCH larger than 2 12's.

There are many other things to touch on here, but you should really get your hands on some free box software and check the results of either system. The reason most manufactureres don't carry anything above a 15" (or a 12" now) in woofers is the box needed to correctly apply the driver is bigger than a pair of it's smaller counterparts.
