Motivation? There is more motivation through positivity and praise. I think that you are confusing car audio with gangsta rap! My momma said I wouldnt amount to anything so I hit her with 160 dbs. Bashing doesn't drive motivation all of the time. Positivity and Support would help rebuild the industry.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Until I joined CCA, I didn't even know there were shows in the area. I always thought you had to travel to the US to enter.

A Tim Hortons series will fix all of these issues

Haha,

people act in forums way differently than in person, it's the internet forum culture. Some of this is crucial for competition, tough.

FYI...There is a good Friday night gathering in the summer at Timmies at 410 and #7 in Brampton. LOTS of cars...all different. Starts around 8:00 pm.

The question is...how do we get the noobs to come to a show and get them hooked?

Yuli - How about combining SPL shows with another car show. There are lots of show n' shine shows in the summer...pretty much every weekend. Why not contact other car clubs and see about combining shows.

This could generate more interest in SPL shows, expose the club members to what SPL is and possibly get some hooked.

We have a few "bass heads" in the car club I belong to. I doubt they know about SPL competitions...would they compete....who know? But at least they would be aware that an SPL organization exists and might be something they are interested in. Car guys are competitive by nature.

Good idea.....last year it seemed like the best shows were ones that had a show and shine involved.

This is a brilliant idea. Take advantage of networking - use interest in other shows to try and generate interest in car audio shows. Brute-force attempts at getting people to come to a car stereo show (let alone compete in one) isn't going to work without a helluva lot of money. In addition, promo money doesn't overcome the stereotype most people think of when they hear your local 17-year-old annoying the neighbourhood with their Audiobahns. The best way to expose people to it is getting them to a show...if they're already attending for something else, then they get to see the quality that goes into a non-high-schooler's setup. (not that there's anything wrong with high-schooler setups...we all started somewhere...)

Again, why do you think I LIKED Drift Mania.

Yeah, SPL competitors hated it because the fee went up and they had to deal with "ricers" ... but honestly, how do you get something off the ground without public exposure.
That show was a great day for Ontario's scene IMO.
