" need help bassheads"

Hey guys,

So i presently have a exile pro e12d dvc subwoofer in a 1.6 cu.ft ported box tuned to around 36hz. I am feeding it 650-700 rms, without any problems. Very impressed with this sub. I am running both 4ohm coils parallel for 2 ohms mono. My question is this-I have 2 of these subs on hand. I am building a ported inclosure that will house both exile subs (3.2 cu. ft in total with a divider. Each side 1.6 cu.ft tuned to 36hz).
If i use both subs but only wire one 4 ohm coil per sub and wire down to 2 ohms will i have more bass than my current setup??? The exile is rated at 600 rms-300 per coil. So with my present set up i am pushing 650-700rms into 1 sub 2 ohms mono. My new set up would see roughly 325-350 rms going to each sub. 2 subs in a box. Using only 1 -4ohm coil per sub. If this question has been asked before...sorry.

if you double the surface area but use only half of the motor power (1 coil) then no it wont be louder. If you want it to be louder you need to double the subs and get an amp that will do around 1500 @ 1ohm

....... I was planning on buying a hifonics amp that is pushing 1200rms 1ohm mono. I was just a little curious about using only 1 coil per sub. Thanks for your help. I will go with the hifonics at 1 ohm mono. This should keep me happy!

the hifonic amp are not too bad but overrated, so try to get one with a bit more watts if you're going with that brand.

.........will keep that in mind. I am presently using an infinity 611a at 2 ohms mono( 656 rms 2 ohms). I crank this for hours at a time, and only runs warm to the touch. Heard any good or bad things about this amp???

for now till u get your new amp I would wire your subs each in series then put them in parallel together to acheive a 4 ohm load..that will make a bit of a difference while keeping ur amp happy

Lightbulb

Please do not run a DVC sub with only 1 coil wired up.....bad things can happen......

If you can't find another one of the Infinity's to run the second sub, you will need one that will do 1,200-1,300WRMS @ 1ohm....a decent one should cost around $4-500......

Have fun with the new toy....

.....Hey guys,

What about MTA's idea of running 2 subs in series then in parallel for a 4-ohm load? Right now 1 sub is getting 650rms mono 2-ohms. If i wire up 2 subs for a final impedance of 4 ohms my amp will be pushing 450rms-225 to each sub. Will the difference in bass output-spl be noticable???
Thanks............
