New to SPL, i need tips/advice!
Hey guys, this is my first post on here so i am hoping i can get some serious help.
i am new to SPL comps and i just got my system together. i drive a 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T....i have stock battery and alternator.
system:
Pioneer AVH-P6600DVD head unit
4 guage wire
JL 1000/1 amp (settings are on JL spec for my sub)
JL 13W7 sub
ported box, tuned to 30hz (JL spec)
i mean, should i be playing burps of bass tones? windows up or down? what should i have my amp settings at??? (see JL settings on the site under 13W7 manual)
any help is appreciated. thanks!

Looks like you have a SQ setup not SPL one. But I see no reason you can't make it loud and have some fun.
For best results find your peak frequency and use sine waves. And the windows must always be up. Best thing you can do is find your cars resonant frequency and start building boxes tuned properly for it. Most people tune in the area of 3Hz-10Hz below there peak frequency, but everone will tell you different. Everyone will agree that the only way to get loud is to TEST, TEST, TEST.

looks good mang! nice score for a first comp too! Better than mine.
Anyways. Test test test. mwuahaha.
As for finding ur peak. use track 19 on the dB jamz cd and ask foryour peak.
As for competing. have the track ready on pause and 3/4 to near full vol. and burp it for about 3 seconds.
Otherwise... test test party test.
