Newest Build

less then a 45 would not be a as much of a disspoinment as you may think as I built every bit of this system by my self literally. I designed box myself, wired it myself everything all done by me. I ran the wire more due to fact that I drive for hour or 2 to work most of the time and I pound this shiz so to save alternator etc I added wire as was cheaper then another battery. Once again thanks luke for the wire. I predict I 146 to 148 maybe once I do some box moving etc I will be closer to a 150 but only time will tell.

did some testing today, hitting 145.3 at 49hz with the box in the pictures, then I swapped out to another box i built yesterday that is a little smaller and only has a 4 inch wide port. It peaked at 49hz aswell but was consistent constantly at 144.2 and up. I think my next step is spec a box for 49 hz and see how that does. The car responds best with the subs facing in to the car and right against the back of the trunk. Any more suggestions on what to try. I dont think sealing it off will produce bigger numbers as the box preforms best further into the trunk.

If you dont want to seal it off, try subs facing into car and port out the back driver side. It works well too. Sealing it off from the trunk with the same box and equipment will usally always yield higher numbers. You will gain with more port area aswell, run 100+ sq.in. Dont tune your box so close to the cars peak frequency, tune around 40 hz and work with that.

the box I have now is just shy of 1 cubic foot of port actually. I am starting to think I need to do some deadening to see higher scores. subs towards back of trunk port into car doesnt sound like a bad idea either was tempted to try something like that, was also wondering how it would preform if i built a box that sat passenger side and had port firing toward driver side. everything is just gonna be a craps shoot from here on in i guess till i find what works for me the best.

I wont say I am disspointed by my 145.3 cause its not bad for being the one who did all the work himself but I'd like to see 147ish atleast outta this gear. I am tempted to say fu ck trying to get my cavalier loud and maybe building a box for my golf for the local show in sept. I wanted to try and make soundsgoods show on the 21st of august but who knows now. All in due time I guess with some more testing i will hit some solid numbers.

started entering my box dimensions in a few different box calculators and found out that the box I originally built (the one in the photos on this thread) would have a tuning of aprox 49hz the way it sits. If i were to add size to the port i would only raise my tuning am I not correct? I also have a box that i built 2 days ago that has a 4 inch port and would have a tuning of around 43 hz. low tonez I already tried forward and sealed off and wasnt a gain for me was a loss. What i need to do now is decide do i try more with the original box or try to resin the newest box and see if I can pull some bigger numbers outta it.
