Puttin' up a wall, a la Streetmax...
#1
So, guess I'm running Streetmax, so should put up a wall.
Only, I've never taken a close look at any of the walled vehicles... How it's done, ya know.
So, I'm thinking, as I want it modular/removeable so that I can pull it out after competition and go back to my street setup...
- Weld up some thin angle iron, around the B pillar, and along the roof line on the B pillar.
- Make a three piece wall, one piece along the entire roof line, hanging down (about) a foot. Drill holes through the wood, tap some holes into the angle iron, and bolt it in. Make a left side, and a right side, that meet up to the roof piece, and leaving a large rectangular gaping hole for the sub box.
- Stuff the sub box into it, I guess using some bracing pieces on the wall... hmmm... And support legs to hold the weight...
- How do you guys seal the walls? Silicone? Foam tape?
- Any suggestions? Any pics lying around that might give me some ideas?
Thanks!

I would think it has alot too do with what kind of subs your running...10's....12's....
You could go full out wall or do like I did at the West.Final last year....Slap a box on the seat, throw some subs in and the baffle around it...
I'm going to try to make a run by your shop some time next week...We'll talk it over a little more then... This time breaky's on you..LOL

^^^ Bad idea.
If you've got the time/resources to build a wall, do it.
Anyways... It sounds like you've got a good idea for the box. As for sealing it, just use expanding foam
Oh... and please tell me you're using 18's or at least 15's.
If you've only running a 12 then just stay in one of the street classes. It will save you a lot of trouble

Ya, I'm running just my single 12 inch H2.
Can't run in Street class, commercial vehicles are not allowed to run in Street. So that only leaves Streetmax and Superstreet as viable options.
And it'll be cool when I spank some of you's with my single H2... I hit a 163.7db in outlaw last year, so pointing that thing at my windhield oughtta be real interesting...

oooo A challenge eh *grins*
Okay, I'm predicting I'll hit at least 140. If I hit 145, I'll do the dance of joy. If I hit 150, I'll drop in disbelief. In my old box, I hit 135, and it was a sealed box lying in the back of the van.
This new box... Should prove to be mucho better, and mounted in a wall, can only improve things, right?
However I do admit that I know little about it, so ya'll could be right. What the heck, it's only a sheet of mdf, some hardware, and a few hours of labour, I'll give it a whirl.
