when you put this many runs from a batt how does it connect to the amp?

 

It's not usually to connect to the amps. It's done like this with a big bus bar at the front, tonnes of runs of power/ground to the back, then another buss bar into a distro block or whatever.

There is resistance in the wire measured per feet that is intself is very small, but when you're a competitor and pulling hundreds if not thousands of amps of current through that wire (Resistance x Current = Voltage) so you'll loose voltage going from the front of the car to the back.

That's why people use large guage wire for large amps, if you use 8ga to power your 2000WRMS amplifier trying to pull that much current through that cable you can loose a volt or two at the amp simply in the wire, amplifiers can die because of lack of input voltage and restrictions in current capabilities.

So these guys, they use 8 runs of 1/0 to reduce the loss of voltage and increase the amount of current that can be transfered, because higher voltage and current means more power to the subs.

so say 8 runs from bus bar at batt - another bus bar at back with all 8 runs and then 1 run from bus bar to amp.

using fewer runs of 2/0 3/0 or even 4/0... would make more sense to me

 

the thicker the wire, the less flexible it becomes... harder to run through a car

 

ya i agree witht hat but if you run it under the car and back in at the rear shouldn't be a problem right?

I have 6 runs of 4/0 rather than a bunch of 1/0

 

Seeing the Gates Bronco the other day they use solid bars on the frame for front too rear power!
