not exactly 10hz. i have found that iwork best at around 6-7 hz. although i do burp a street vehcile at a very high note.. But it can be anywhere from 5-10hz, or more? just depends on your vehicle. you have to do ALOT of good testing to find out exactly what it likes best. I tuned my box to every note i could and tested, to figure out what was the best freq for my woofers, and box in that car!

But ^^^^^YOU ^^^^^ also really need to go and see a support group for your addiction to SPL!!!!
Aside from the problems that Curtis has, the way he did it is IMO the best way. Yeah it is alot of work to change the tuning on every enclosure like 15 times but you are going to get the best results by doing that. Also in street class you can go pretty much full out for every test burp unlike SS or Extreme (more so in extreme) where going full out 3 or more frequencies below tuning will GRENADE equipment because of the amounts of power, back pressure on the woofer cones, etc..... I am not saying that things dont blow in testing in street but it is more likely to roast stuff in SS and Extreme.

WOW, over ten subs blown, damn, over my entire time in Car audio, I've only blown that many. What kind of subs were you primarily using?

BTW, how come more people dont use those Treo CSX series subs? since they have such an incredible track record? Like Team BS, used 16 of them, for a whole season, without a single woofer failure, even though they were reportedly stuffing 6K RMS into each, even in the DB deathmatches?

Treo CSX woofer were my LOUDEST woofer in street B last year! but they are really only supposed to be used at freq above 65 hz. they can blow up really easily at fequencies below that. that is why they are primarily a extreme woofer. now, this year i WILL be usuing the treo CSX's again, as my freq is now well abouve the 65hz range...

i think another reason alot of popel don't use them is because thye are very expensive... this year i think mroe people will be using them!

kurt, you must do some bad testing to blow up that many subs! Some vehicals are very picky and then you go through lots of subs.

Last year we never blew up any subs. had to do a recone before finals because one of the coils was wearing down!

A 'cool down time' between burps is also important. Do a burp wait 5 to 10mins, then again and so on. This will give the subs a chance to cool down and to get your voltage back up to your normal testing voltage.

Do you suggest making the port as thick as all of the other walls in the box?

ya i blew woofers cause i literally did too much testing in that damn street vehicle. i gave sufficent time in between burps for charging, and coil cooling... just way way to ,many hours.... well inmy case, not quite enough
