Setup suggestions
Hey guys,
SPL is not really my thing, but I have a friend that wants to hit in the 150's. I don't know what to recommend to him, as I've never really set up a system like this.
He is working with a budget of around $1500-2000, that's just for subs and amps. already has headunit. Now not factoring in the box, or electrical upgrades, what would be a good starting point for that budget.
Open to number of subs as that hasn't been decided yet, so I am kinda looking for some advice, as I feel wierd just entering this section of CCA.
Any brands, and model numbers would be great, as well as any other suggestions you feel appropriate.
regards, Mark

well those are great subs...umm..the only problem is with that price range..cuz the DD9500/9900 series are gonna run you $1000-$1500 ..thats new...finding a good used one...might be a suitable option to save some money there....n they take alot of power..i'm not sure of which amps are good...i've had personal experiences with crossfire amplifiers..they're awesome...but look at the other subs..like RE...but i have no idea of the prices on those...so look into it...

I had a other user on here suggest the RE MT series... I am looking into those at the moment....
Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

They're close, but they don't seem to realise the budget you've got.
I'd say a pair of 35 series from DD or a pair of SX from RE and then keep your eye on the classifieds here for a nice high powered amp. (something in the 2kw+ range)

id say that all the advice is useless until you decide on what category. cause a wall would get you there extremely fast and cheaper. but seeing as how it seems that he wants a stock system. then go with whatever is closer to you and gets you good warranty.
any idea on what category he plans to compete in. or is he just a dude that wants to listen to it all day long and compete. how modified is he willing to make his vehicle cause you can hit 150's with 1000 watt amp and and 2 - 15's. and play it all day at that level but add 1000 lbs to his vehicle in doing so.
