I have heard from more than one top competitor that it is in the vehicle preparation, I also believe this to be the case. In the end it takes both to make you elite!

While I believe prepping the vehicle is important, I think the enclosure wins overall.

I'll shoot some info than

My Street B has less than 1.5dB in damping, so take 1.5dB of the score and you have 158.5dB original.

SS

I have a BP astro van, square box = 4dB down, the damping on the roof and doors represent less than 1dB.

Extreme

the box is all

so my opinion is that you "prepare" the car because makes you louder, and the box makes you loud or not loud, for a given equip.

Well I will run SS NW. Van is green to comps. At 1 point you time and $ brings little to no addition to your score, I have no db drag events in the state and you guys in bc are my closest shot. Don't want to dump lot-o-coin for a hand full of shows with no real chance in making finals. My last builds have been outlaw. Fanning the door at right time can add db's. I did lil deadning and w/2 18's and 1600 watts rms ran 52 at the dash sealed. Best # on my daily driver was 59. I will have about 14k on tap. Good bats and good 1/0 HO alt ect. Never built a SS NW and getting lil input on TP. No team. Just tryin to spend time and $ wise. 6 kids and store been slow. "Must focus grass hopper"

Another thing is it seems like alot of people think prepping the vehicle is just deadener. Everyone who has a top vehicle in any class knows down to the most minuscule detail what any change to there vehicle will do to there vehicle. What seat positions, what heater settings, where the visors should be, etc..... All this would fall under vehicle prep.
