SPL/SQ Sub questions

SPL/SQ Sub questions
Gents,
I apologize for such newb questions but I am looking for some sound advice from you SPL pros....
For the past few years my system has been pretty much an SQ systems (Boston Acoustics internals and sub, and Zapco AG Series amps). Unfortunately for me my Boston Acoustics 15" Competitor has now been put to rest
I'm looking to get into a 12" SPL sub(s) with somewhat SQ characteristics and good for daily use (music play, I'm not looking to get into DB dragging). I was looking at the Boston Acoustics SPG555 but after getting a few quotes I don't think I'm willing to spend that kind of money.
I've now been looking at RE Audio and DD but I have no experience with them.
I was hoping to get your opinions on which model (or any other brands) would best suit my needs. I know this is a little open ended since there are many things that can affect what sub(s) I should go with but I'm hoping to get some guidance from the gurus to help with my search.
The following are the limitations for my search:
1. Zapco AG1000 is the amp I am/will be using for the sub(s), I don't have the money to add/change my sub amp.
2. Sub has good history (i.e. you have had 1st hand positive experiences)
3. Cheaper than the Boston Acoustics SPG555, hopefully much much cheaper
4. Easily Available in GTA - Ontario, (also, please suggest places where I can check out/purchase the sub(s))
5. Very good for daily use listening to music
Looking forward to input from all of you, and sorry again for the newb approach.

Bro this is probably not on most lists for SPL or SQ, but trust me it is worth looking at the Clarion signature series. See Lee at Radioactive in Burlington, he will fix you up. Also drop into Selective sound in Mississauga, Davis takes care of us forum members. I have 2 of last years model 10s. I have trophies for dbDrag, bassrace and IASCA SQ with these subs. If you are around Brampton I would be more than happy to let you have a listen. They are the ones in my avatar BTW.

Image Dynamics ID Max V.3 hands down best all-round sub. the sq and spl that these things have is amazing, extremely efficient subs, so they are great with a wide range of power (up to 1000 RMS), and they are cheaper than the SPG-555. i was going to get the spg-555 a while back and opted for the ID Max instead.
i have a 10" in my car, however i have heard multiple 12" as well. they are amazing in every respect. you can get them just outside the GTA in whitby.
great for a daily listener because of its amazing sound quality and ability to get huge spl whenever you need it.

Hoping to hear some suggestions/opinions on RE Audio and Digital Designs. Any one know of any stores in the GTA that have these brands on display?

420guy, how long have you had your Clarion's? How much power are you pushing to them? The specs on Clarion's website look interesting for the 2009 PXW1251...I'll check out Radioactive when I get a chance. Thanks for the input.
jstoner22, are you running your ID Max V3 in a sealed or ported box? Where is whitby are these sold? Let me know, thanks.

i have actually used the sub in both a sealed and ported box. honestly they both sound great, all depends on what your application is. the sq in the sealed was amazing.
i opted to go with a ported box in the end however. the difference in spl was dramatic, and if built properly, the dropoff in sq in very very minimal.
Custom Auto Radio in whitby carries them its on hopkins, just off the highway. i was actually just in there today, they don't have any on display at the moment, if you are in the area i'd be glad to let you hear one though!
they should definitely be something you check out. just check out any review on them, i don't think i have ever heard anything bad about them, and there is a reason for that.
