I'd personally go with the Phoenix Gold I heard a lot of feedback ontheir gear when I was startin out, now I have a 12" RF (that'll be up for sale soon possibly) and a pair of Alpine Type R 10's The RF Gear was just under $500 for the amp the sub the box and the wires.

Dude... if your lady wants SPL, then she should be looking at 15's IMO... find something that has alot of excursion compaired to thermal power handeling and put them in a huge box (ie the whole trunk) with your 600RMS....
Be sure to go ported, and make sure you pay attention to tuning.... No doubt you could hang with the guys with 1 12 and 4x the power....
