The state of SPL today....
I've posted this on a few other forums, and it maybe a repeat for some, but I'd like to see what you have to say about it....no right or wrong...just an open area to express your thoughts about it...
Here's the copy/paste.........
"This taken from a reply I posted on another board....just thought I'd get peoples thoughts on it....
"...........the biggest thing with SPL is to go have fun....
When it reaches a point where your in it only to win and nothing else, its time to drop it.....thats my thoughts anyway.....
I like to see little "sh*t shows" like this now and then because it gives the new guys a chance to get some experience under their belts...
No matter what kind of numbers you hit,as long as you had fun, everyone around you had fun,and the people who didnt win took it in good sportsmanship.....to hell with the trophies...to hell with the points...to hell with the records.....
Too many of the upper level competitors(at times, myself included) have gotten to wrapped up in "if its not 'this loud',its not loud enough"..and "if its not a certified dB Drag event,I want nothing to do with it".I think too many of us have forgotten our roots and where we started....at the "sh*t-shows" with our daily driver setups..... "
Whats your thoughts on the world of SPL today??
Are we too focused on how loud or how big we get in the competition world,or are we really doing it for the fun of it??
I open the table for discussion......"

Kudos on the post here.
I gave up my SPL car dreams for a cruising system, basically same thing but now i can listen to it not just burp it. It's all about fun, it's all about showing support I guess more than anything. There is always going to be someone louder than you, if not today then tomorrow. So do it with that in mind, create something you love and others will too. Create something to just annihilate everyone and it's more a chore than a joy.

What you said does hold value, as you should enjoy everything you do... or at least try to. But we can't neglect the competitive aspect of the sport. Look at the olympics or any high level professional sport, what if they were there "just to have fun" I know they do have fun, but to keep things going I still believe there needs to be some with a competitve mindset. At that not everyone needs to be, it should depend on personal interest as you said. I agree.

So yeah, everything is competitive, even I am still, with my personal system. If I hear someone trying to show theirs off, I always pull up and crank mine till mine can be heard over theirs. But it's all in fun.
